Congratulations to Barbara Lhota for winning Babes With Blades’ international playwriting competition Joining Sword & Pen.  Her play, Los Desaparecidos, will be performed at the Raven Theatre this Spring 2008.

Los Desaparecidos received a staged reading at the University of Chicago on August 12th at 3pm.  Attendees took part in a feedback session after the reading.

The runner up for the competition Duette by Kyna Hamill and Wanda Strukus has entered our New Play Development Program and had its first public reading on August 11th at 3pm at the University of Chicago.

This year's theme was "Duelo de Mujeres" (The Duel of Women), named for the painting above. We requested scripts for production that are inspired by this painting. In order for a script to qualify for the competition, the fight depicted in the painting MUST APPEAR within the script.

The winning script will be produced in Spring 2008 as part of Babes With Blades' 2007-8 Season. The winning playwright will receive a $1000 cash prize.
